Millstone Medical Outsourcing Expands Medical Device Cleanroom
Millstone Medical Outsourcing has officially broken ground on its new 56,385 square foot facility in Fall River, MA. The MA headquarter campus will now hold a total of 124,367 square feet of production space, including its existing 15,000 square feet of class 10,000/ISO7-rated cleanroom space for medical device packaging operations.

Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) is pleased to announce that its Stanwood bottling facility in Michigan has received Gold certification under the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) International Water Stewardship Standard, the company’s second facility awarded this certification. Achieving advanced-level certification recognizes the additional effort and positive water stewardship outcomes that go beyond core requirements of the AWS Standard. NWNA remains the only company in North America with Gold-certified facilities.
Lockheed Martin’s Meridian, MS Facility Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Lockheed Martin’s Meridian facility began production operations in August 1969, initially producing the L-1011 jet airliner’s empennage. Since then, the Meridian facility has been involved in the production of aircraft components for the JetStar, the C-5 Galaxy and C-141 Starlifter strategic airlifters, the P-3 Orion submarine hunter, the F-22 Raptor fighter jet, and the C-130J Super Hercules tactical airlifter.

New Biomaterials Inspired by Creatures of Nature
The first attempts have launched to bio-engineer protein biomaterials like those found in mussels and tree frogs to yield similar amazing wet adhesion in sealants, coatings, glues, and medical adhesives. Crucial proteins in these animals exhibit unique behaviors and chemical reactivity, and the NYU Tandon School of Engineering researchers are creating hydrogels that borrow certain key features of those proteins: the separation of a solution into two distinct liquids in response to external stimuli, the incorporation of nonstandard amino acids, and patterning, such as the polygonal pillars seen in the toe pads of tree frogs.
